Calories are the measurements of Food Energy; The average adult intake should be roughly 2000 Calories = 8000 Kilojoules – depending on your activity levels, environment and body type.

There is 3 Main Food Calorie types; Carbohydrates, Protein and Fat. Both Carbohydrates and Protein contain 4 Calories per gram and Fat containing 9 Calories per gram – This does NOT mean All Fat is bad for you.

Fat is highly necessary in your diet as Fats are needed for many vital functions including cell membrane synthesis to repair tissues and used in metabolic processes required to synthesise Epinephrine. Or, as commonly know Adrenaline. Both of which are great for optimal human performance, injury prevention and tissue regeneration. Healthy Polyunsaturated Fats and Monounsaturated Fats are vital to both cognitive performance and physical performance. Carbohydrates are also highly necessary if the correct type of Carbohydrate is consumed in the right quantities based on your body type and activity levels. Mostly, Carbohydrates are used for energy production. Although, large intakes of carbs does not always equate to more energy – Sugar Crash!
